Career change to become a QA...pls help with guidance, also cannot download your book...having errors

Hi Phil
I am an architectural designer , looking for a career change. I am exploring the career of a QA tester. I am trying to download your book , but constantly getting an error message. I appreciate if you could email me the pdf file.
Also if you could guide on where and how to start in terms of study material if i want to make a career change to QA, since i have no knowledge or experience in this field.

I am very sorry that you are getting error trying to download Software Tester: Elite. I have done what I can to troubleshoot the issue on my end, but have not been able to produce any error message when I attempt to download the book.

I emailed it to you. Did you get it? I haven’t heard back, but I hope that you did receive my book and were able to begin reading to see if QA is for you.

If you can give me some information about the issue you’re having and how you are downloading, I may be able to figure out what is happening and fix it.

Helpful info:

• Your computer: Mac or PC


• Browser (IE, Safari, Chrome, Firefox, AOL, etc.)


• Internet connection & Speed (dial up, cable, dsl, other)


• What does the error say


• What steps are you taking when attempting to download


I don’t know what the future of architectural design would hold for you, but I know that the world of software development is growing and growing. Computers are here to stay and so is the software needed to run them.

I don’t know what the next incarnation of software will look like, but at the speed that it is being developed, QA will continue to be a necessity. Especially when people begin to understand that much of the software they purchase today could be much more capable, stable, and easier to use. That is one reason that QA will remain a needed discipline. We are not going away. :)
