5 Most Common Bug Regression Mistakes:
Day #4

Go To: Day 1 - Day 2 - Day 3 - Day 4 - Day 5

When reviewing the history of a bug, it is most helpful when the most recent changes are at the top of the Comment (or Bug History) field. This way the most recent, pertinent information you need is right there in front of you. You don’t have to scroll to the bottom of the bug, through all of the many comments that have been added throughout the life if the bug, just to find the most recent changes.

Mistake #4:
Commenting In The Wrong Place

Save yourself headache and time, and save your company money by organizing your bugs in the most efficient and effective way possible. Put the newest, latest, and greatest comments at the top of the Comment field.

Some bugbases actually control this for you – sort of. They control where the comment goes (chronologically), but in this case you have control of how you view those comments.

You have the choice of the oldest comments at the top of the field, with the age of the comments descending in order until they reach the most recent (meaning you will have to scroll much of the time). Or you can choose to have the newest comments at the top of the field, with the age of the comments getting older and older as they descend down the page.

You should select whatever is most comfortable and efficient for you, but I recommend configuring your page so that when you view a bug, the most recent comments are right in front of you. And if you have a choice as to where to add a comment, be sure you place the newest comment at the top!
